Guide to install RagnaTales with Windows Defender Folder Exclusion

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for adding the RagnaTales folder to the exclusion list in your antivirus settings. This is necessary to prevent the antivirus from blocking or interfering with the game files. Follow these steps carefully.

Step 1: Extract the RagnaTales Folder

1. Extract the RagnaTales folder from the downloaded archive to a location on your computer, such as the desktop or your preferred game folder.

2. Do not open the folder or run the game yet. (! IMPORTANT !)

Step 2: Access Virus & Threat Protection Settings

1. Open Windows Security:

   • Go to the Start Menu and type "Windows Security" or "Virus & Threat Protection" and select it.

   • You can also access it through Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection.

2. Navigate to Exclusions:

   • Scroll down in the Virus & Threat Protection window.

   

   • Look for the Exclusions section and click on Add or Remove Exclusions.

Step 3: Add RagnaTales Folder to Exclusions

1. Add an Exclusion:

   • Click on the Add an Exclusion button.

   • A drop-down menu will appear.

   
2. Select Folder:

   • Choose Folder from the drop-down menu.

   • A file browser window will open.

   
3. Choose the RagnaTales Folder:

   • Navigate to the location where you extracted the RagnaTales folder.

   • Select the RagnaTales folder and click on Select Folder.

Step 4: Run the Game

1. Run the Patcher as Administrator:

   • Go to the RagnaTales folder that you have now added to the exclusions list.

   • Right-click on the patcher executable (usually named something like RagnaTales Patcher.exe).

   • Select Run as Administrator.

2. Update and Play:

   • Let the patcher update the game files.

   • Once the patching is complete, you can start the game and play without interference from your antivirus.

Additional Tips:

• Check Exclusion Settings Regularly: Some antivirus software may reset or remove exclusions during updates. If you encounter issues again, re-check the exclusion list.

• Disable Real-time Protection Temporarily: If adding to exclusions doesn’t work, temporarily disable real-time protection during game updates and re-enable it afterward.
